The last day of Nana and Grampy’s visit we went on a little hike in Zion. It was a beautiful sunny day and I took them to the East Rim trail. I haven’t hiked there in years, but I remembered that it was a nice trail that would be good for hiking without having to go down a wash with lots of rocks.
I soon realized the problem with hiking on a trail and not in a wash, is that the older kids all RUN. Not hike, run. So I was left behind with James E Boo who was very excited to walk around. And I got to enjoy the view a little when not craning my neck to see where everyone got off to.
Then James discovered that he was walking on sand, and of course sand is for throwing.
Off we go into the Wilderness!
Seriously, this kid is so cute and happy when he is outside. It was fun hiking with him.
I love Zion, it is such a beautiful place. There weren’t many hikers that day, which is always nice to have the trail to yourself.
We crossed a bridge at one point which the kids thought was pretty neat. I am not sure why bridges are so cool, but I enjoy them too.
3-2-1- RUN! I love this picture.
Elora and Oliver were just a wee bit faster than everyone else, but this one is still cute and it is so fun to have a picture of Grampy running. I had never seen that before.
Marion and James were really tired by the time we were heading back. The older kids ran ahead with Nana and Grampy and Nana ended up coming back to see where we were at on the trail. By then I was carrying James and Marion wanted to be carried too, but she was appeased by the 1-2-3-Jump game. Grandma and Nana might have gotten a little tired from swinging her the rest of the way back to the parking lot…
There is a broken down horse pen near the trailhead with some bathtubs that were used for watering troughs. The kids pretended that they were pirate ships and didn’t want to leave! We had a great time hiking and playing in Zion.
