More What We Do!

To get prepped for the Apple Festival, we dug out Marion’s apple hat. It is quite the favorite. She played hide and seek with me in the trees in the yard by pulling her hat on and off of her face. Funny girl.

She also found her stylish sunglasses. She is all ready for this sunny fall weather!

We made some brownies so we could celebrate Grandma’s birthday. Marion was a big helper. She likes to help measure when we cook, and she especially loves licking the bowl.

I forgot to buy candles so poor Grandma had to be 19 this year instead of her proper age. Sigh. In our family we usually use the proper amount of candles no matter what birthday it is, but I guess it was okay since we didn’t have to eat as much wax as we usually do when it is Grandma or Grandpa’s birthday!

All the kids got to help Grandma! She was quite pleased that all the candles went out on the first try!

Yum! Brownies are good and they give Elora the giggles. The kids were really excited to have another birthday to celebrate. We like parties at our house.

James likes parties too. Didn’t really eat his brownie though, but that is okay because I got to eat it.

On Mondays we go to Kanab for lessons. Elora has dance and Oliver has violin. During the in between times we go to the park or the library or Honey’s the grocery store or the used book store or the dollar store depending on the day. We loved October because the weather was nice almost every Monday, so we enjoyed our time at the park. The kids all wanted to take James down the slide, so he got to be held by every sibling and hold hands with people and be taken down the slide a lot of times.

And did he like it? Yes, it appears so! Every time he was put down he crawled up the stairs back to the slide again where a sibling was usually waiting to take him down again.

Happy boy! Elora loves to play with her baby brother.

Our cat had kittens! Elora found them in the yard the day they were born and then the rain started so our cat moved the kittens into the garage. Elora goes to see them every day and loves to hold them. In this pic they were only four days old. I have never seen a kitten that young before, so we have lots of pictures. They are so cute.

We have some boxes left over from a yard sale we had in the spring, and the cats have adopted the one with stuffed animals in it. They are so cute and fluffy!

We love to go on walks around town, and on the way home Marion always has to walk on the “Rainbow sidewalk”. It is sort of shaped like a rainbow. She convinced her very sweet big brother to walk with her and hold her hand. We bought all the kids rainboots this year – we finally figured out that with all the mud, it is totally worth it to buy shoes that can be hosed off. Marion loves her new ladybug boots and wears them just about every day.

The kittens are getting bigger! Here they are with Mama Scamper.

More love from Elora. She takes good care of her little furry friends.

Oliver is scared to hold them, but he loves to go see them and pet them. He held one once, but they have sharp little claws, so he just pets them now.

Marion, on the other hand, LOVES to hold the kittens. She adores the baby cats and would stay in the garage all day holding them if we let her. So fun for the kids to watch these little ones grow up. In a couple weeks they will be ready to give away and Elora is sad, but eager to find them a nice home with some friends – I think she figures if they live at a friend’s house then she can visit them!
