Our last two days in Hawaii there was a storm watch for tropical storm Flossie. We decided to stay close to the condo in case the storm hit during the day. I took the kids down to Paradise Cove so we could have one last beach day. The weather was beautiful.
James got tired after playing in the sand for a little while and took a little nap on the beach. I couldn’t believe it, he doesn’t like sleeping anywhere but his bed.
The waves were bigger than normal and the current was stronger, so I wouldn’t let the kids go out very far. Here they are holding on to each other while the waves come in! They would do this while the waves came in, and once the wave hit them they would run and laugh. Funny kids.
James woke up happy to play in the sand some more. He kept trying to crawl into the ocean which made for an interesting visit. He got a little water on his face a couple times and wasn’t a huge fan, but he still kept trying to crawl into the ocean.
The kids filled some water bottles and brought some water to James and Marion so they could play with some wet sand and build sand castles.
Chris came down with us for a little while and took the kids out a little ways to look at the fish. He said the current was pretty strong, so they didn’t stay out real long.
Oliver is going to miss the ocean! What a little beach boy.
Marion and Oliver with some of the castles they made.
All the kids loved being in Hawaii and going to the beach. Marion didn’t love big waves, but she really loved playing in the sand.
This little girl absolutely adored the beach and everything about it. We made her wear floaties when she went out with Chris. She didn’t like that since she is getting to be such a great swimmer, but we figured it was better to be safe. She has improved with her swimming so much this summer, what a cute little fish.
I love going to the beach and watching the kids play.
All working together to get water and sand for more sand castles.
That is one sandy little leg.
Elora found this one grain of sand that was a piece of a pink seashell and wanted to show us. How in the world does someone notice the color of one grain of sand? That is our Elora. Very observant.
I love Marion’s cute face.
I helped the kids get some more water for their sand castle building. The water was WAY colder because of the storm coming in.
Chris said there were some amazing fish. The water was pretty cloudy because of the storm coming. I was sad we didn’t go snorkeling out there before because I wasn’t willing to go when the currents were strong.
The funny part is that we wouldn’t have even known about the storm except we saw it on the internet and it sounded like it was going to be really bad, so we stayed home to play it safe. It didn’t hit until midnight and it was a strong storm when it hit but only for about an hour. Our last two days were actually sunny and beautiful with no sign of the storm during daylight!
