We love the fourth of July celebrations in our town! It is a fun time of year where everyone takes a day to celebrate this great country we live in.
We really enjoyed the parade this year. Last year our kids were in it, but we did not end up having time to prepare anything this year, so we just got to watch and have candy thrown at us.
The theme this year was “Light a Torch for Freedom” and we thought there were some really nice floats this year.
There are always races at the park after the parade. Marion did not understand the purpose of this at all, and strolled over to meet me instead of running.
Elora’s little friend Kaitlyn shared a snow cone with Marion – and Marion will now follow her anywhere!
This is our friend Kamryn, who the kids get to play with sometimes when their mom babysits. Marion LOVES her now, and she gave Marion a little teddy bear too. It was nice to watch the kids play with everyone from town. That is always the best part of holidays in our town – all the town kids playing together at the park so that the moms and dads can hang out together.
Elora made sure in the morning that we all wore red or white or blue. She felt this was VERY important, and would not leave the house until Oliver changed into a red t-shirt. Elora had a GREAT time playing. We all enjoyed the dinner at the park and live music in the evening. Unfortunately this year the fireworks had to be canceled because of a state-wide ban on fireworks due to all the wild fires. We actually had a fire going on about ten miles from our house, and were incredibly grateful in the evening of the fourth of July when we got – some RAIN!
