Hiking in Zion

We took Oliver, Elora, and Marion to Zion National Park with us but by the time we got there Marion and Oliver were asleep. So I (Chris) took Elora off on a short walk with me down one of the side canyons while we waited for the kids to wake up in the car with Karen. Elora was really excited in this picture to pose and show off her necklace beads. The scenery in Zion is so beautiful and Elora is such a cutie.
Next, Elora pulled off her backpack and got out her explorer’s journal. She brings a little notebook along with her to catalog all the things she sees.
Here she is proudly showing off the page where she wrote “Cliff Rose” in that special way only Elora can do.
This is a place where we would take Elora when she was just 2 years old. Now she’s 5 and doesn’t remember it anymore except for the pictures we took back then. She is excited to come back in a couple weeks when the tadpoles are fully grown.
Then we walked back through the tunnel under the road.
By the time we got back to the car, Oliver and Marion were awake. Oliver, as you can tell from this awesome picture was still a bit sleepy-grumpy.
But he started to cheer up when we took him for a walk. This picture is classic because of the deer droppings near his feet. Oliver saw these down next to the cactus and said, “Cactus Nuts!”. We just about died laughing and now call them cactus nuts whenever we see them anywhere. And if we ever offer you cookies made with cactus nuts, “Just say No!”
And finally, happy baby Marion. She’s such a smiley little girl.

By the way, MyPhotoAlbum doesn't exist anymore and we decided to have a blog as well. 🙂 The only problem is that the families in Brazil doesn't understand English so we have to write in Portuguese :/ but still… you can see some photos from Austria… 🙂
