Our first summer here two years ago, we got invited by our friend Elodie to meet up with a bunch of moms at the Wasserturm Wasserspielplatz. It was our first friend outing in Vienna after our move here, and the day I met a lot of new great friends. On the tram on the way there we ran into my old friend Lindsey, and her two sweet boys. Wes and Oliver hit it off immediately, and a great friendship was born.
Now it is time for them to move on, and we are sad but so grateful that we have been in touch since the first time we both lived in Vienna and that we could spend the last two years here with them.
Oliver’s last day playing with Wes, a spontaneous playdate at the Rathaus park.
Marion LOVES Elliot. She loves being a little mother hen and showing him fun things and taking him on the little slide. She loves that he loves her and will follow her around. She will miss her little friend.
Today we met for breakfast and the zoo. Marion has a super nice mom who let her order ice cream and waffles for breakfast.
While the tiger was walking around pretty close to the window we were next to, the kids all adopted box elder bugs and played with them for a long time. Who needs exotic animals when there are bugs about?
The kids love playing in the old cheetah cage. We spent more time with bugs, in cages, and on playgrounds than looking at animals today. Sometimes kids just need to play.
The kids had a great time searching the pond for frogs. We also saw some really adorable baby water birds. Christiana loves having her picture taken!
Marion caught a butterfly and let Wes hold it. Sometimes kids are really sweet.
We saw baby pandas and the hippos, so life was pretty good today. It doesn’t seem real that this was our last day to play with Wes and Elliot. I didn’t take any pictures of me and Lindsey together today, so here is an old one.
My beautiful friend! I will think of you every time I go to Lichtenstein Park, every time I go out to the Rathaus Film Festival too late and have to walk home, every time I go out for dessert late at night, every time I see Gutenburg, and every time I need someone to text when I am overwhelmed. I will think of you every time I watch Buffy, Guardians of the Galaxy, and when I need someone to tell me a piece of movie trivia. I will think of you every time I buy myself a bag of chocolate covered raspberries since won’t be here to buy them for me. I will miss you when you are not there for hugs, chats, dessert, playdates, movies, or girl’s nights. Since we have been brought together multiple times through the years, I know we will see each other again. Until then, we will miss you and your family!
