I have always wanted to take family photos with all of us in our Austrian clothing. There is nothing cuter than men and boys in lederhosen. We finally picked a day to go out and a location close enough to home so that if it was miserable we could give up and go home easily!
The sun was shining and we enjoyed all the normal struggles that go with trying to get hair and clothes nice on four kids who really aren’t interested in the whole process. An hour later we got to the Volksgarten after the clouds had rolled in and the first sprinkles of rain started coming down on our third photo.
We decided to keep at it since it was just a light rain. Three locations, 160 silly photos, a bit more rain, and a few wishes for warmer coats later we called it good and headed to a nearby gelato shop for the bribe we had offered our children if they behaved on the photo shoot. (Behave is a relative term. There was a lot of silliness and crazy faces going on in those photos…)
The best part was watching the kids run about between photos.
As luck would have it, we went with the second photo we took that day. Family photos are fun. We hope to do it again in May when it is actually warm outside instead of pretending to be warm outside!
