Spring is Here!

Spring is here! We celebrated by enjoying the fountain that just got filled today at the Palais Lichtenstein. The kids had a great time walking around the fountain, looking at the ducks, and finding the hose that was currently filling the fountain.

This is a beautiful park. We found signs of spring everywhere – budding trees, small flowers poking up through the grass, and of course the warmer weather which was perfect for our park day.

We played at the playground for a little while with friends. There is a beautiful playground at the Palais Lichtenstein, and now that it is springtime, there are open bathrooms and the water pump is on! The water pump is great because I no longer have to pack around water for everyone, but also makes it really difficult to keep all the kids dry and clean. Time to start carrying spare clothes for the young ones!

We planted beautiful spring flowers on the balcony. All the kids helped pick out different flowers to plant at the Brunnenmarkt on Saturday. I think we ended up with a beautiful variety. Marion especially loves the garden and helped me clean up after planting. An added bonus to the warmer weather and flowers is that when Marion had a time out today I sent her outside and the flowers calmed her right down. This little spitfire loves plants and nature.

On one of our warm weather days last week, we went to the park and made fairy houses. It is a great way to entertain the little ones when they are too tired to run around but really want to be outside.

James joined in and was so incredibly patient as he gathered items and decorated his fairy house. He wanted to sleep at the park so we could see the fairies come use the beautiful house he built for them.

Oliver had no interest in building a fairy house, so he attempted to start a fire with two sticks instead. I encouraged this because he was entertained while the littles finished their houses, he was super patient and kept on trying even when it didn’t work, and it was kind of fun to see how excited the kids were when they realized the sticks actually did get warm after rubbing them together for a long time. I am so excited for spring, flowers, lady bugs, park days, sunshine, did I mention park days? and this beautiful city in my favorite season!
