Chris took the kids to the Wiener Wiesn-Fest at the Prater. It is a big Oktoberfest celebration that has some fun kids activities, great music, tasty food. This year there was free bread-making for children at the Ströck stand. The kids each made their own roll, wore a baker’s hat, enjoyed a donut, and received a nice little box to bring their bread home in.
While waiting for their bread to bake there was a coloring station and Chris also paid for them to decorate their very own gingerbread cookie. The kids really loved dumping huge amounts of frosting onto their cookies!
Those are the best looking bakers I have ever seen! They had such a fun time with Daddy at the festival. And what was I doing while they were at the festival?
Eating lunch at a cafe I have been wanting to try, called Strudls. All by myself. With a book. And I got dessert. It was all amazing. So amazing.
The next week I took the kids back to the festival and we were a little disappointed that there was no bread baking. As it turns out, that was only open for one day, so good thing they got to try it! Instead Chris joined us and bought all the kids huge soft pretzels and the kids got free balloons.
We decorated some gingerbread cookies with two little girls and their moms who we met on the elevator on the way to the festival. Living in a foreign country sometimes means that all you need to have in common with someone to become fast friends is the same mother tongue.
We walked over to the grassy section of the park so we could relax. The kids picked up chestnuts and we enjoyed the beautiful fall weather.
Sometimes public transit with kids is frustrating. Other times it is so fun when they are happy to ride the train together. This was a happy day in the trolley!
