Our friends Peter and Beate invited us to go hiking with their family to the Burgruine Mödling. We took a short train trip to the town of Mödling and walked through the town to get to the beautiful hills where we began our hike. The hike was wonderful. It followed small trails through the woods with some beautiful views of the the surrounding area. It is worth coming here just to hike around in the wood some more! We had a great time exploring the forest with all the kids.
The ruins are not big, but still fun to look at. We ate a picnic lunch at the one table we found near the ruins and the kids enjoyed running about and exploring the ruins on the hilltop.
These cute hiking buddies came to get hugs when they got cold and then went back to running around. We hiked down a different path and found a little playground where the kids ran around some more before we caught a bus back to the train station. This was a wonderful exploring expedition. I hope we come back to Mödling another time to explore the area some more.
