We love the water playgrounds here in Vienna. Today we met up with lots of friends at the wasserspielplatz that is on Donau Insel. It is so fun for the kids with multiple shallow pools, sand play areas, a rope bridge, a wonderful raft to play on, and today they also had a painting and coloring station set up. It was a perfect place to be on a hot summer day, especially since the water is freezing cold and guaranteed to cool you down within 5 seconds of stepping in.
There are a couple of fun waterfalls that the kids love to play in. I don’t know how they can stand getting so wet. The water is really cold. I only bring them on the hottest of days!
I love that there is a beautiful view of a cathedral that is across the river. And the huge fish head is pretty amazing too. Almost as good as the cathedral, but not quite.
The younger kids really loved the painting station and the shallower pool with the waterfall and bridge. The bigger kids explored all over the park. There is a fun hilly area to climb, reeds to climb through, sandy pools, a waterwheel, and a lovely grassy area where the moms set out our picnic blankets under the trees in the shade.
I love this one of Marion and Nina exploring the more adventurous sections of the playground with wooden platforms and waterfalls. It reminds me of Tom Sawyer’s Island.
After a fun afternoon full of water, playtime, popsicles, and even some baby ducks and swans that we saw on the river, I feel so grateful for the awesome friends my kids and I have made here, and this beautiful city we get to explore.
