To prep for the Kane County Fair, the kids wanted to bake this year. Oliver wanted to enter cookies in the fair and Elora wanted to make bread. I was super impressed with how well the kids could follow the instructions, and they really didn’t need much help from me.
I love these cute little bakers.
And this cute little dough eater.
Elora had never made bread before and she was really excited to try it. She watches me bake bread all the time and was glad to have a chance to make her very own.
This kid is growing up so fast, I can’t believe she is old enough to cook…
She decided to make cheese bread with bacon on top. I showed her my recipe and she did the rest on her own!
The bread I make does not require kneading, but I have a special dough whisk that I use and she was happy to get a chance to use it.
Oliver loves using the big mixer.
Elora shaped her bread all by herself.
James likes to hang out on the counter messing with stuff while the rest of us were cooking. Oliver wanted to make oatmeal scotchies. Those are his favorite cookies that our neighbor Ila Mae makes. She had given us the recipe and Oliver was really happy to get to make them.
Marion did not cook for the fair, but she likes to help me cook anyway. I love how excited she gets when it is her turn to help. Pretty soon I won’t have to bake at all, the kids can take over for me!
