This summer we decided to fix up our basement. It has always been this awesome fluorescent pink color and there were huge cuts in the drywall from when our house was rewired. There was also an amazing amount of drywall texture glopped on the walls. We sanded down the walls, patched all the cracks in the dry wall…
Took out an extra door leading to the pantry and patched up that wall, and took our old kitchen cabinets which are being replaced and put them up downstairs, and then we painted and refinished. The “after” pictures will be forthcoming!
I also got to try my hand at plumbing when our sink wouldn’t drain and I thought I would just have to clean out the pea trap and instead we found the clog was further down the pipe. After trying to snake out all the goop, we busted a piece of an old rusty metal pipe and got to replace some pipes. Lots of goop scooped, lots of plumbers putty to stop leaks, and a couple hardware store trips and drano bottles later, the sink was fixed! It was a really gross day… but I am glad to have a sink that finally drains properly.

Elora left me this note asking me to make pesto. She had picked a whole bunch of parsley from the herb garden. I need to teach her that I use basil for pesto.
We do a lot of cooking in our house and I have lots of sweet little helpers.
Oliver went through a really awesome phase where he dressed up like Han Solo every single day.
