To prepare for Easter, we decided to make Rice Krispy Easter Eggs. I saw the idea on a commercial on the Food Network.
There were little candies hidden inside, which the kids thought was pretty cool. The we packed up and headed to Brian Head. They have an Easter festival and it was the closing weekend for skiing, and we wouldn’t want to miss that!
We dyed Easter Eggs. James tried to eat them, dye, shell, and all, so we gave up on James dying eggs. We tried to break open the egg so he could eat it, but he had no interest in eating the edible part of the egg.
This year I bought a kit that had dye you could dip the eggs in and also dye you could paint with. The kids enjoyed using both. It was fun to have a variety of ways to decorate.
Marion really liked painting her egg with q-tips.
The next day we headed over to the Navajo Lodge so I could check out the Easter festival while Chris took turns skiing with the kids. First he skied with Marion while the other kids played in the snow. James of course decided to eat some snow when Elora offered it to him.
Marion has learned to turn and go down the hill pretty much by herself. This is one determined small child, and she certainly LOVES to ski with Daddy. Anytime she sees snow she asks to go skiing and giggles with joy at the thought.
There were some fun games set up inside. The kids enjoyed playing and winning prizes. Elora used a very interesting swing during the golf game. After this James commandeered the golf club and ball and kept running off with them.
There was a lady making balloon animals, but Oliver opted for a sword instead.
James also got a sword and enjoyed sword fighting with Elora and Oliver. There was a really nice worker who got into the sword fight too, and played a lot of the games with the kids.
When Marion came in after skiing she asked for a lion balloon, whom she LOVED, and played with all day. She was so sad when he popped in the evening. She asked for a new one for two weeks.
Little Ollie prepping for his last ski day of the season!
James decided to drive the truck while waiting for me to drive him back to the apartment for naptime.
After everyone finished skiing, we went on an Easter Egg hunt in the backyard.
The snow was so warm that the kids kept sinking way into it. Of course Elora lost her boot at one point and I had to save her as I walked and sank up to my thighs in the snow.
Elora caught a glimpse of her prize at the end of her trail of eggs and she was super excited to get to it.
Chris got the kids chocolate hens from France. They looked so super yummy.
Marion was pretty excited about finding eggs this year. Now she knows that there is candy in them.
James E Boo was excited to munch on his chocolate chicken. He didn’t care much for egg finding. Later when Grandpa had Easter Eggs at his house, James was more excited. He had figured out about the candy by then.
James excitedly pointing at Daddy as he holds onto his headless chocolate chicken! The kids love having Easter in Brian Head, although this year it was a little harder to hunt for eggs since we were all sinking way down in the snow!
