I found an old post that I never put up for some reason. So here is a blast from the past – Our first Kane County Fair, three years ago!
Marion entered the baby contest. Chris got to stand up with her and talk a little bit about Marion and what makes her a special baby.
She won a little prize for “Prettiest Eyes”. What a cutie.
There was an area with some free games for the kids. The kids loved the sawdust treasure find the best and came home with some candy and fun little toys.
Chris entered the Dutch Oven Cook-Off with an awesome recipe for kebabs.
Chris’ stacked chicken, ready to go in the dutch oven.
Cutting some awesome meat!
We made home made pitas in the dutch oven as well, and some french fries. Here is our awesome creation!
Time for the judging!
Chris won a prize for “Best Flavor”. Great job sweetie!
We went to the rodeo and enjoyed watching some roping.
Elora loved the rodeo (and even wore her farmer pants for the occasion).
Oliver also enjoyed the rodeo – but the kids were really waiting for the chicken chase!
All lined up and ready to race! There was a little boy from Europe there that night who didn’t speak English very well and his mom asked me if my kids would stick with him. Elora held his hand so he could run with her. What a sweetheart!
Our kids wanted a chicken SO bad. A friend of ours caught one and gave it to Elora – she was so scared! She thought the chicken would peck her.
Once she realized the chicken was nice, she was all smiles. The kids named the chicken “Spencer” after a friend of theirs who helped out with the chicken. Unfortunately we didn’t have Spencer the Chicken long, he got killed by a dog š The kids still love chickens though, and two years later are still asking to go to the chicken chase (but now they want a proper coop to keep their chicken in!)
