While in Arizona we got to go to the Renaissance Festival. It was really a fun day (but hot!). James liked trying to climb on the stages when we went to watch the shows…
Trying out Jacob’s ladder!
Oliver really loved all the shows. Out of all the kids I think he really enjoyed the festival the most. It was so fun to watch him and his sweet smiles.
There was a live joust, which was fun to watch. It was really well done. We saw a joust at an Austrian festival one time and the guys really didn’t know how to handle their horses. This one was really fun to watch.
The kids each got to pick a ride. Here is Elora with her cousins. She loved this rocking boat ride.
Oliver wanted to go to and as soon as Marion saw Oliver go, she had to join him! Uncle David went with them and they also really loved the ride. I was worried they would be scared, but they weren’t at all.
We went to the knighting ceremony where Elora was made a shield maiden and Oliver was made a knight. Afterwards the kids got to take pictures with the queen. Elora was SO excited to meet her. Oliver was SO excited to be a knight. He made me read his little knight certificate over and over.
We went to see Gypsy Geoff, who was great. Marion took her toy dragon right to the front to watch the show with Oliver and Elora. At one point he was asking the audience for a fire starter and Marion yelled out, “My dragon breathes fire!!!!” Geoff seemed a little surprised.
Next we went to the petting zoo. It was fun to see the kids pet the animals. By this point we were all getting pretty hot though… see Oliver’s red face?
Marion LOVED all the animals and didn’t want to leave the petting zoo.
Oliver found a spot where water was spraying and had a great time cooling off.
Oliver had gotten some birthday money, so he picked out a sword and sheath for himself (of course).
There were a lot of really fun craft booths. Elora got her hair done and Marion is holding her dragon which can curl around her wrist like a bracelet. She also tried to steal a wooden mushroom for some reason… It was a fun day with the family – but if we come back again I hope it will be cooler!!!
