We set up the nativity. Oliver really likes the staffs that everyone carries. I think they remind of Leonardo the ninja turtle. But he also loves the sheep. I love this nativity set because it is not real easy to break so the kids can actually set it up and move the pieces around. I love Christmas time and I was also very excited to decorate. It brings back so many good memories – my favorite one is sitting in my living room as a child looking at the Christmas lights on our tree and just feeling the beautiful stillness and peace that comes so easily this time of year if we just stop and let it. I love watching Marion every morning turn on all the Christmas lights and sit behind the tree. The kids love this time of year, partly because of lights and presents, but also because they love to give and laugh and spend time together and talk with each other about the baby Jesus. It has been a joy to watch them all this year. Merry Christmas everyone!
Oh, Christmas Tree!
Elora started asking to decorate for Christmas as soon as Halloween was over. We managed to hold off until after Thanksgiving. The kids were so excited when it was time to get out the tree!
Oliver loves to play with the Star Wars ornaments we have had since before the kids were born. They didn’t even end up on a tree this year, Oliver just played with them all.
Marion was really excited to decorate this year. It was nice that she is big enough to help now.
James loved all the ornaments, especially taking them off the tree. Our tree doesn’t have any ornaments until about three feet off the ground.
Elora pointing out our skiing Santa. He is one of the favorite ornaments.
Marion hugging James as James points to one of the real candles on the tree. We moved that one to a higher location. Man that kid is getting tall.
Chris made the kids some hot chocolate that we made out of candy canes and French dark chocolate. All the kids thought it was too dark except Marion who was licking every last bit out of everyone’s mugs.
Mmmmm… chocolate!
Oliver was excited to get out our finger puppet nativity. He told Marion the nativity story as she watched. It is so fun to see Oliver teaching Marion about Christmas. He is a really sweet boy.
James was getting all dressed up to go out in his kitty ears and bringing us his shoes. He loves those cat ears and can often be found wearing them around the house.
