There was a triathlon for the kids in the area and our kids signed up. Elora did it last year and had a hard time, so we were excited for her to enter again this year now that she knew what to expect. Oliver was sad last year that he was not old enough, so it was fun for him to participate this year too. Elora loves to swim and we are so proud of her. She swam the whole way without any trouble.
Our kids don’t ride bikes very often, so it is not very easy for them to ride and they still use training wheels. Elora said, “It is not a race!” and did her best at a slow and easy pace. It was great to see her work at riding her bike even though it is not very easy for her.
Elora loves to run and she enjoyed this part of the race. Chris ran with her and had the camera – I was sad not to have a picture of them running together, because it was really sweet and one of my favorite moments of the day.
Chris was not wearing running shoes, so if you look carefully, you can see his shoes in the background where he kicked them off to run barefoot. Elora thought it was funny that Daddy lost his shoes!
What adorable little triathlon pals! This is a great event, I am glad they are planning on doing it every year.
Oliver was excited to swim and he did a great job swimming!
He is ready to go! But making Dad help him with his shoes.
Oliver is off on his bike!
I love Chris carrying the bikes in the background. Oliver had a great time running and it was fun to cheer him on. I am glad the kids enjoyed this activity, it was a really positive experience. They didn’t finish first or anywhere close to it, but they didn’t feel discouraged, they just enjoyed the race.
And getting a medal at the end is super fun too! The kids wore them for a week and got some fun t-shirts to remind them of their big race. Thanks to those who organized the race, it was a really great day!
