Waimea Bay

We drove by Waimea Bay one day and thought it looked really nice. I went one time when I was younger and in Hawaii with my Girl Scout troop and remembered that the water was really clear. So we packed up the kids one day and headed out.

The water was super clear. This underwater picture looks like it was taken in a pool.

Chris and Elora found this happy rock collection with a couple fish swimming around it.

Elora was determined to find fish, so she and Chris swam around a lot of the bay, even out to the deeper areas. I am amazed at how much Elora swam that day!

Oliver preferred playing in the waves, but he did get to see some fish by a rock out in the middle of the bay. Chris came back and got Elora and I so we could come see the fish.

Fish! We did not bring snorkels, but the goggles were fine for seeing the fish. There were tons of the little zebra striped fish.

Elora had a great time exploring the area looking for more fish and finding fish of all different colors.

It was fun getting to explore a little with Chris and Elora, but wow did all that swimming tire me out!

Underwater explorers.

Marion decided she wanted Daddy to take her to the deep water. We showed her the rock smiley face and she had fun swimming with Chris.

Then she decided it would be really fun to splash Daddy, so she splashed out in the water for awhile too! The water was nice and warm for swimming.

James played in the sand and a little in the water. He especially liked it when I was sitting with him instead of out swimming with the other kids. He doesn’t like being left out!

On the way home Chris and I wanted to try fish tacos at this place called Killer Tacos, but since we didn’t think the kids would eat fish tacos, we stopped at McDonalds. You know you are in Hawaii when the McDonalds sells Taro pies. We actually bought one and it was really nasty. Don’t need to try one ever again… but the fish tacos at Killer Tacos were good!
