Chris gets up early in the morning to work so that we can all play in the afternoon. Not so bad to see the Hawaiian sunrise every morning during work.
This is the beach just in front of the condo. We were just going for a walk so the kids were not in their swimsuits – I am not sure why I thought they would stay dry.
While playing in the water, some spear fishermen came in. One of them caught an octopus and it was still alive. He let Elora and Marion see it. Elora wanted to feel the tentacles and the octopus gripped onto her finger. She thought it was pretty awesome. Marion’s favorite animal is octopus (we don’t know why, very odd), so she was also very excited to see the octopus. When Elora asked the fisherman what he was going to do with the octopus, he said, “Eat it.” Her face was awesome. She thought that was so gross and has been talking about it ever since. We can’t convince her that it is the same as eating fish. The fisherman had also caught some fish that were really pretty and he let Elora touch them too.
Marion on the other hand does NOT like going in the water at this beach because she got knocked down by a wave while looking at the octopus. But she loves to play in the sand.
Marion on her favorite rock where she can be taller than the water. She likes to watch Elora and Oliver from this rock way away from the water.
There is a really great banyan tree right by the beach. The kids love this tree and spend time climbing it…
…and hiding in it. As well as Oliver’s favorite game – McDonald’s drive thru. He is standing in his drive thru window asking me for my order.
We walked along the cliffs near the beach looking for crabs and turtles.
Then we headed back to the condo along the train tracks. These tracks are from a train that used to go to a sugar mill a long time ago and now it just runs a little tourist train on weekends. I love that Elora and Oliver always hold hands on the way home.
