Chris worked at a tournament in Huntington Beach in April, so we went out and stayed with my sister Sharon and went to see Daddy at the Huntington Beach pier one day. It does not matter how cold it is when we go to the beach, the kids want to run in the water. And it is not warm at the beach in California in early April.
Watching my kids run into the ocean at the pier brings so many feelings of nostalgia and so many memories into my mind. I grew up on this beach and spent so much time in this exact place. I love seeing how happy they are playing in a place where I spent my childhood.
I always roll up their pants thinking somehow that they will stay dry. Not sure why I bother because they always end up completely soaked. So fun. This time I was feeling pretty smart because I brought everyone a change of clothes. When I went to get their clothes, I realized I had forgotten to bring dry pants for Oliver. Really? Pants? Because of course you need a dry shirt when you have been running in the ocean, but not pants! Luckily Chris is very creative and used the heat press at the trade show to dry Oliver’s pants while Oliver hid in the back room of the tent. I don’t know if they got completely dry, but they were warm!
I love this picture of Marion. She was so happy to look at the ocean, to find seashells and play in the sand. She made friends with other kids and just stared and watched the waves for a long time. She looked so happy just watching. And I think she looks so beautiful with her sweet happy face!
We ended our day by meeting up with my friend from childhood, Mandee, and going to Wahoo’s Fish Tacos. SO GOOD. It was fun to have a little visit with Chris so the kids (and I) wouldn’t have to miss him quite so much.
