We spent Easter weekend in Brian Head with my parents and my sister Sharon and her family. It was fun to ski with my nephews and sister and brother-in-law, but we had such a great time we didn’t stop to take pictures of us skiing together! There was a cute Easter festival in Brian Head too, so we took the kids over to the lodge to check it out.
There was face painting, which the kids were really excited about. Oliver asked for a dragon, but got about halfway through and said he was all done!
Elora LOVES having her face painted, so she sat very still and had a pretty purple and yellow butterfly painted on her face.
There were some games to play too with little prizes. Oliver and Marion really enjoyed the fishing game. There were also some little crafts for the kids to make and it was all free which was nice.
Oliver finally decided to go back and let the lady finish painting a dragon on his face. He was especially excited about the fire on his nose. He is holding his cute little Easter egg craft. He was really excited to make it. His was an egg with a chick on it, and Elora made an egg with a bunny.
We set up an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids in the snow. All winter Oliver talked about how we needed to have an Easter Egg Hunt at the ski apartment so we could hunt for eggs in the snow, so Chris hid the eggs, we told the kids which color eggs they needed to find and off they went!
The bigger kids had to run up the hill a little ways. Chris made them go farther to find their eggs, but didn’t really hide them. Elora was finished so quickly I didn’t get many pictures. They are so light they could just run along the top of the snow…
But she got really excited once she started finding eggs. Especially because her eggs were yellow and purple, her two favorite colors. It was a really nice warm day to be outside and perfect for an Easter Egg Hunt.
Elora sat down in the trees and started eating her candy while Oliver and Marion looked for more eggs.
As Elora ran through the snow she lost a boot. I came to help her and my leg fell down into the snow up to my thigh. So I stayed with my leg cold in the snow while I dug out her boot, emptied out the snow, and tried to get her boot back on. By the end of it we were both laughing and I was cold and soaking wet. Good times.
The kids sat down outside to open all their eggs and see what was inside. Oliver was really excited because he found an Almond Joy. My kids all love them because they have such good taste.
Here is how wet Chris got hiding the eggs. It took him forever to hide eggs because he kept sinking in the snow, so it was funny how quick the kids could run around since they usually didn’t sink in. Next year we will hide the eggs in a little more challenging places for the big kids!
When we got inside, Oliver was really sweet and helping Marion open her eggs and find the candies she wanted. He is a really sweet big brother and loves to help his sisters and baby brother. And he is so adorable in his Easter outfit. He loves to look handsome, so when he is all dressed up he often stays in his nice clothes because he likes the compliments he gets.
Next we dyed some raw eggs since that way everyone could dye a lot of eggs and we wouldn’t have to eat tons of hard boiled eggs. Marion had never dyed eggs before, but once she realized it made the eggs change colors she got really excited.
