My mom and dad have been living with us while they fix up a house in Orderville. It has been so fun having them here. The kids love it, and I definitely appreciate their help. Dad spends most of his time working on the Orderville house, so we made him a turkey dinner to celebrate his special day! Then we had mini strawberry shortcake cupcakes afterwards (thanks to Cousin Kimberly for the recipe)!
In my family it is a tradition to use the proper amount of candles. We needed a blowtorch to light them all, but we only had matches, so we did our best. Mom accidentally blew out some candles when we were almost done. Luckily the candles did not completely melt before we had them all lit. It was getting a little hot on the hands though!
The amazing part is that Dad can actually blow out all the candles. I think it took two breaths, but up until a couple years ago he could still do it in one breath. It takes me three breaths for my thirty candles, so I am very impressed. This year he had some little grandkids to help too.
That’s a whole lot of candles! Dad thinks we need to retire this tradition, but it is just so fun to see all those candles lit up!
And here is a picture of James just because he is so cute. He is Grandpa’s little buddy. Grandpa gives him cheerios to eat, and I usually give him pureed peas, so that may have something to do with it.
