We don’t have many pictures from Christmas day because I couldn’t find the battery charger for my big camera (and the battery died before Christmas Eve…) and I didn’t bring my battery charger for my little camera. Sigh. But here are some pics of the kids opening the presents in their stockings.

Elora had told me that she wanted a piece of coal for Christmas from Santa. Just so she could see what it looked like. Here she is excitedly holding up the coal from her stocking. We couldn’t find any real coal, so Grandpa very kindly gave Santa this nice rock that looks a little like coal…
Chris bought me some new salt and pepper shakers for Christmas with lids that screw one. We have some that have lids that are impossible to get on and off, meaning that when we run out of salt or pepper in the shaker it would take us a few months to decide it was worth it to try and get the lids off the shakers to refill them. So excited to have ones that are easy to get on and off! They sprinkle out A LOT of salt and pepper though, so we are getting used to that…
Elora wanted to get Chris summer sausage for Christmas. Last year I bought him the largest sausage I could find as a joke and Elora LOVED it, so she thought I should get him some sausage. I got him three summer sausages from our friends in Glendale who are butchers because they make the BEST sausage!
Marion slept in, but when she finally woke up she was very excited to find a toothbrush in her stocking. She looks so cute and sweet in this picture.
We enjoyed having a big turkey dinner for Christmas with the whole family, and then we played a calendar game with the family. We always played this game at my grandmother’s house when we were kids: she had an advent calendar and we each drew numbers to get a prize. The prizes were always hotel soaps, sewing kits, pencils or other simple things – but some of them had money inside. Our kids had never played before and they were SO EXCITED to win pencils, candles, glue sticks, and of course, some money. It is always so cute and funny that the kids love all the simple little prizes just as much as the money or the bigger presents they got for Christmas. Thanks mom and dad for keeping the tradition going! So glad we got to be a part of it this year!
