We read about an Oktoberfest celebration in Brianhead in September, so we dressed the kids in their Austrian clothing and took them up there. As soon as they got out of the car, they ran out into the meadow to play with the flowers.
The kids loved this little hill, and spent a lot of time running up and down the hill.
I love watching the kids run around outside. Elora especially just looks so happy when she is outside!
Oliver proclaimed himself King of the Mountain and the flower was his staff.
I am just posting a bunch of pictures now because my kids are so adorable.
We went and enjoyed some good German food. There is a German couple who moved to Brianhead years ago, and they started the festival. The potato salad was really good. Elora tried Apple Strudel and at first said she didn’t like it, but kept eating it anyway and then told me that it was actually pretty good. Funny kid.
There was a German band there and Marion enjoyed waving these leaves while listening to the music. We walked around and looked at the booths set up for vendors and let the kids pick something out. I bought some peach lip balm and Oliver decided that was what he wanted, so he took it from me… He loves chapstick.
Elora picked out the pretty headband she is wearing in this picture. She also grabbed every map and brochure she could find. She loves papers, and still has these ones up in her room. She likes to look at all the maps.
Marion fell asleep as soon as we put her in the car on the way home. Oliver sat quietly the whole drive while holding his chapstick and ski map that he picked up. I would say it was a successful day for the kids! We stopped to cut wood on the way home since we were already up on the mountain, and the kids were excited to have more time to run around in the woods.
