Elora has full day kindergarten, but sometimes I pick her up early and we go fun places together. I wanted to take her to the museum in Zion National Park last month. We drove all the way there and it turns out that they close it for winter. I am not sure why… but we made the best of it and explored the area. Luckily the weather was pretty nice, so we were able to stay for a long time looking around.
I love Zion. So does Elora. You can tell.
Marion loves it too, because she found a big stick.
Elora liked looking at all the signs, trying to find the different mountains, and finding out what all the mountains are called. She is always curious and excited to learn. It makes it really fun to take her new places, and helps me pay attention to all the beautiful things there are to see and learn too.
We climbed around on the fences and collected sticks and leaves. Elora also got out her notebook to draw pictures of plants she found interesting. She especially liked a plant she found with yellow berries on it and drew a really nice picture of it. She just found that picture in her notebook today and asked me if I remembered the plant… and indeed I do.
We hiked a ways back toward the mountains, but there really wasn’t a trail and I wasn’t sure we were supposed to be walking around in this field, so when we ran out of deer trail I said we needed to turn back. I had to promise that we could come back soon and go on a long hike. Luckily the weather has been so mild that we should be able to come back quite a bit before the snow comes….
