No trip to Grandma and Grandpa’s would be complete without a visit to the San Diego Space Museum. All the exhibits had changed since our last visit. This time they had a geometry and shapes themed display. So many fun interactive exhibits. Here is the geometric climbing area. This is Elora’s “I got up but I can’t get down” face.
Oliver is quite the climber and he had a great time climbing inside the geometric shapes.
They had these cool tunnels of all different shapes. I showed Elora the diagram of how the tunnels were made and she enjoyed picking out what all the different shapes were called. She said they felt funny to climb through though.
Oliver also enjoyed climbing through the tunnels, as well as turning around and giggling while crawling away every time I tried to take his picture. I finally got this cute one of the little goober. Usually he likes having his picture taken, but apparently it was more fun to see Mom walking back and forth to each end of the tunnel trying to get a photo…
This exhibit used different shapes and magnets, and depending on how you put it together, the wheels would spin different directions because of the magnets. Very fun, I could have played here much longer.
Grandpa took Marion up to Kid City to play, and she had a GREAT time. This exhibit has air that pushes the colored balls up and out the top of the tube. Then they fly into a funnel (when it is positioned right, if not then the balls just whack you in the head) and come down another tube. At first Marion would stick the ball inside but not let it go. We finally got her to let go of the ball and she was quite amazed with the results!
She ended up playing at this exhibit for most of our visit and really enjoyed it! So fun to have a museum where there are fun things for all the kids to do! Elora went off with cousin Jessie to explore the rest of the exhibits which were about the human body. I was sad to miss them, but it was fun to watch Marion and Oliver play. Oliver liked the large firetruck, as well as the grocery store. He gathered lots of play food into his cart, loaded the food into a car, and asked me to hop in so we could drive home. I wish this musuem were closer to our home, we would love to spend more time here!
We finally headed outside to the fountain to enjoy our lunch. Elora also enjoyed feeding the birds (while Oliver enjoyed chasing the birds).
And luckily none of the children fell in the fountain. I always think one will, but they must have better balance than I give them credit for.
After lunch, my big helper Oliver tried to carry the cooler out to the car. He is getting so grown up and thinks he can do everything for himself!
