Oliver with all his favorite things – maraca, sword, darth vader mask from Mr. Potato Head. He has taken to walking around the house like this…
Oliver got this message in a fortune cookie recently: “Before the beginning of great brilliance, there must be chaos.” Ha! I hope that means brilliance is coming!
He loves our cuckoo clock, and after seeing the bird come out of it for the first time, he responded with: “Here birdie birdie birdie! Come out!”
The kids were watching a movie the other day and we walked in to find them… reading while watching. They go to the “bookmobile” which is a small branch of the library that drives around to rural towns, and they LOVE it. They had just gotten new books, and no matter how excited they were about the movie, they couldn’t wait to look at their new books.
Elora LOVES to hold Marion, and to hug Marion, and to bug Marion… but sometimes Marion is happy about the attention. She really loves her big sister.
This is how I found Marion sleeping. I guess she was playing and fell asleep before she could lay down!
Marion loves the dog, so if we leave the door open she comes to the door and dives outside onto the dog. So funny. She barks at him and pats his head. I think I know who will be Yoda’s favorite… Below is a video that pretty much shows how Marion and Yoda interact. Lots of smacking on the head by Marion, and lots of licking by Yoda.
Elora is quite entertaining to talk to these days. She is trying to figure out connections between things, and she loves to tell stories. Here she is pretending the baby mat is a car. Got to love how imagination comes into play when you need a car and don’t seem to have one anywhere! Here is another favorite quote from when I was making stir fry with sesame seeds the other day:
Elora: “Are these sesame street seeds?”
And some other fun kid quotes:
Chris (reading the scriptures): And it came to pass that there arose a mist of darkness; yea, even an exceedingly great mist of darkness…
Oliver: I like to live in the dark!
While the kids were playing…
Elora: Girls sometimes break their promises.
Oliver: You chain them up!
And her cheeks are always orange because she loves sweet potatoes (and every other food…) The kids gave her a maraca so she could stay entertained while waiting for more food.
We have a CD with kids music on it, and one of the songs is called “Dancing with Teddy”. So the kids turned it on and… danced with their teddies!
Marion with one of her favorite things – a stick! Oliver has to leave them outside when he comes in, so there are always plenty of sticks on the porch for Marion to play with.
And Marion’s favorite place to play is the tupperware drawer. Now it has toys and random other stuff in it too because she likes to throw stuff in there.
The only problem is she throws stuff all over the kitchen, so I have to clean it up eight times a day…
Marion found a Mickey Mouse toy in the drawer and loved it so much she tried to eat it! She also likes to bite everyone else too, so it must be a sign of love.
The kids love baths, and they love them even more when they all get to hop in together! Their favorite game to play is to put bubbles on their heads and faces and say, “Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas! What do you want for Christmas?” In their best Santa Claus voices. So funny. Marion’s favorite game is to splash everyone and to eat bubbles.
